The IALA Buoyage system is a sea mark system which is a worldwide standard.
It consists of 6 buoy types, lateral, cardinal, isolated danger, special, safe water mark and new danger mark.
These buoys and marks indicate where safe water lies and where you should navigate safely within a channel.
